JAIPUR: The trial hearing eluded green traveller Andy Pag — arrested for carrying a satellite phone — for the third consecutive time as Ajmer police failed to file a chargesheet in the case. The judicial magistrate, Pushkar, in the absence of the chargesheet, has given February 17 as the next date.
Pag was granted bail by district judge Ajmer on January 18 and since then he has been waiting for the trial to begin.
The cops cited panchayat polls as the reason for not being able to file the chargesheet.
Additional SP, Ajmer (Rural) Himmat Abhilash Tak said, “As per law we get 60 days to file the chargesheet and in cases where the quantum of punishment is 10 years or above we can file it within 90 days. There is still time with us and once through with the panchayat elections we will do whatever needs to be done.”
